Autism podcasts on YouTube from Northamptonshire

It is funny what you 'rediscover' when clearing out your computer desktop. Educational Psychologist Philip Whitaker and our current Northamptonshire Autistic Spectrum Team manager Stephanie Ince produced a range of helpful podcasts aimed primarily at parents of children with an ASD. As changes to county services are rapidly taking place, I was afraid that these might be deleted sometime soon. So do have a look at these soon, if they are of interest.
The first three podcasts deal with post-diagnosis information and available services for parents.

Post Diagnosis 1:

Post Diagnosis 2:

Support Services in Northamptonshire:

The other podcasts are video versions of some of the team's Social Scripts (a version of
social stories). They cover a range of issues, and there could be one that is useful for you:

Bullying

What if my friends won't play the game I want to play?

How to answer questions in class

Playing games with other people

Working with friends in class

Making mistakes, does it matter?

Learning to learn

Keeping private things private

What Can We Offer Parents?

As we are in the very early stages of our business, we are really interested in a bit of feedback... We feel that parents of children on the autistic spectrum in Northamptonshire may have areas in their lives where we might be able to support. In particular, we think parents might like access to training courses about autism in general, behavioural support ideas, social skills tips - and maybe things we haven't even thought of yet. We want to ensure that parents of undiagnosed children get the help they so desperately need as well. So we are interested in hearing your ideas about the things you would like to see - remember, there are just two of us, and our work is primarily based on autism consultancy and training (so we can't do it all). But we are eager to hear about what we can help with. Please leave us a comment on our blog so that we can take your viewpoints into consideration when planning our venture's first steps. And thank you in advance for your time and efforts!

Thank You, SENCo's!!!

We just wanted to express our gratitude for all the kind words of support that we have received from our Northamptonshire Special Educational Needs Coordinators over the past few days (and especially today). It has been lovely working with you all, and your lovely comments have meant so much to us. Many, many thanks!!!
All the Best from Ron and Angela
